Realtor Blurb:
This beautifully renovated Victorian home is a well-loved B&B. Folks come from all over the country to relive the splendor of the olden days yet luxuriate in the comforts of today. Built in 1880 by W.T. Jones, Pres. of Tyson Jones Buggy Co. and recently renovated with a top-of-the-line kitchen, new beds & heating systems, fresh paint inside & out, etc., this place is very special. There are five rooms to rent, each with a private bath. Owner's quarters consists of a spacious 16x20 master bedroom and bath. The kitchen has a 5-burner gas cooktop, double oven, dishwasher, warming drawer and beautiful cabinetry with granite countertops. There are two new gas packs that heat the downstairs; two heat pumps heat the upstairs. There are two water heaters, both put in in late 2011.
My Notes: Here's the B&B link: The Old Buggy Inn . Nicely kept. I cringe at the interiors awash in baby pink, blue and lavender; but nothing that can't be changed. Unfortunate whitewashing of the lovely staircase; again - HUGE PITA to fix. There is some debate as to whether it is a good idea to strip such paint or to leave as-is because of the time, expense and damage to the wood. Do your research.
* Went digging and discovered this build date on the NRHP registration form here: NHRP. Relevant section is screencapped below. Further information also screencapped from Carthage Historic District .
Beautiful landscaping here; Street View shows it shielding the house pretty nicely from the road. Decent price; but it's been for sale on and off for several years. I feel they could come down a bit. Just MHO, of course. Two more pictures from the B&B website also below.
